Fashion Trend For Spring Summer FLORAL PRINTS

Summer is offically here and the floral trend is out in full force.  Floral prints may not be groundbreaking, but they will forever be considered the embodiment of spring/summer. Around this time of the year, you can always count on a full floral fantasy to assure a smooth transition between seasons and this spring is no different.

Fashion’s ongoing love affair with floral prints continues for Spring/summer 2014 with many of the designers offering up their take on the iconic pattern. So be prepared to embrace your inner lady with floral print dresses, swimsuits, shoes, and even sunglasses

Romantic and edgy, yes. Floaty, girly-girl-innocence no. The floral trend has moved into all-new realms of sultry, smoldering style, with floral's coming in soft pastel colours and vibrant hues.

Pick one colour of the floral pattern you want to wear, and use this as your base. It might be a singlet or coloured jeans – remember, a little floral goes a long way.

It takes a very sharp eye to spot two floral designs that will work together without appearing like a technicolour nightmare. Instead, mix one statement floral piece with a block colour. Same goes for other patterns such as stripes and checks – this can work, but proceed with caution.

Details like ruffles, bows and lace can clash with floral go from chic to cutesy very quick. If you think it would look cute on a ten-year-old, leave it on the rack.

Watercolour, mirror-print, monochromatic and abstract florals are a sophisticated take on this trend. Teamed with a simple cami and a blazer it can even pass at the office.

If you’re not ready to jump into the floral trend, then play it safe with accessories. Try a simple flower in your hair, a wreath (if you want to make a statement) a handbag, or a pretty piece of jewellery. A brightly coloured floral silk scarf is also a good wardrobe staple.

It’s all in the details - A new take on florals this season is to toughen them up. Monochrome prints, black leather and pearls create a perfect take on this classic trend.
