Mizani Supreme Oil Reigns Supreme

(Mizani Supreme Oil, $16.28 Amazon.com)

Finally I've tried the Mizani Supreme Oil and let me just say the name is fitting.  This oil reigns supreme, because it can be used for so many different things.  But since we focus on hair let's chat about that first.  Supreme Oil is a 99% naturally-derived formula with 8 natural oils (sesame, jojoba, almond, avocado, apricot, olive fruit, sunflower and argan oils) that is silicone, mineral oil and paraben-free.  Since it has so many different types of oils in it, I initially though it would be too heavy for my freshly roller-set hair but instead it was perfection.  A little tiny bit goes a long way and smooths fly-a-ways hairs and adds great shine.

It's great for all different types of hair ranging from type 1 to type 4 and can be used a variety of different ways, including a pre-shampoo treatment just add a little heat to heat amp things up, it makes a great scalp massage oil, and a daily conditioning or sealing treatment.  Plus, it can be used on the skin so it's also a body treatment.  Told you!  Mizani Supreme Oil reigns Supreme!

Have you tried it?  Do you love it too?

Obliphica Deep Conditioning Treatment Review

Obliphica Treatment Hair Mask 500ml

An Obliphica is a sea Buckthorn fruit which is considered a rare fruit, it grows in the Himalayas and Siberia and has been getting quite a bit of press lately for being a superfruit. Because it has an incredible concentration of natural vitamin C, more than 15 times greater than in oranges, the Obliphica is among the best sources of vitamins and phytonutrients in the world!

That's when I heard about the Obliphica Hair Care Line I knew I wanted to try it.  I was able to test out the Obliphica Treatment Shampoo, Treatment Hair Mask, and the Serum.  Out of all three products, the Treatment Hair Mask was my favorite.  Keep on reading to find out why!

Product Description:
Obliphica has an advanced formula for intensive treatment of very dry, colored hair.  The creamy texture of the mask penetrates hair structure and envelops it in softness.  Your hair looks shiny and healthy, and has a pleasant fragrance.

The Obliphica plant contains many vitamins (A,E,C,K), and oils (tea tree, olive, rosemary etc.), 18 amino acids, 11 trace minerals and naturally balanced omega 3,6,9 essential fatty acids that are crucial for a healthy scalp and hair.

  • It eliminates split ends and prevents graying, making the hair stonger.

  • The mask has been especially adapted for hard water users, being PH balancing.

  • Your hair stays soft, even after shampooing, drying and styling it!

AHS (An Honest Story):  I've had these products in my possession for a while without trying them and I have to say I'm sorry I waited so long.  I started out with the shampoo, which thoroughly cleansed my hair without making it feel stripped and overly clean.  Then I followed up with the conditioner.  As soon as I applied the conditioner to my hair, it had great slip and made detangling my hair a breeze.  I decided to hop on out the shower and leave it in overnight for extra conditioning.  That was a total waste, this is not the type of conditioner that gets even better with time.  In the morning, I was a bit disappointed but it was short lived.  I rinsed out the conditioner and put a little more on to detangle.  This conditioner works best within just a few minutes which is a huge plus if conditioning overnight is not your thing.  Afterwards, my hair was soft and had a great shine to it.

Obliphica Treatment Mask Ingredients: Water, Cetyl alcohol, Silica, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Isopropyl myristate, Obliphica (Hippophae Rhamnoides) Oil, Behentrimonium chloride, Glycerin, Cetrimonium Chloride, Chamomille (anthemis nobilis) Extract, Frangrance (no substances from the 7th amendment), Poliquaternium-7, Citric Acid, Glyceryl Stearate Dmdm Hidantoim, Ethylparaben, Poliquaternium-10, Linseed (linum usitatissimum) Oil, Calcium Pantothenate, Aloe Barbadensis Extract, Henna (lawsonia inermis) Extract, Tea Tree (melaleuca alternifolia) Oil, Sunflower (heliantus annuus) Seed Oil, Rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis) Extract, Olive (olea europaea) Oil, Propylparaben, cl 15985, Retinol.

Freshen Up with Pure & Petal

Do you ever feel like your hair could use a little freshen up in terms of scent?  Pure & Petal has the solution! Pure & Petal hair fragrances are light and delicate and are designed to stay close to your hair, so your hair smells clean and fresh like you’ve just stepped out of the shower, but you can still wear your regular perfume.

Since the fragrances are alcohol free they don't dry out your hair like a regular body perfume would if you spritzed that in your hair.  The Pure & Petal scents are wonderful, my favorites are the Sublime Citrus and Heavenly Clean.  I brought my sample bottle to the Doobie Shop and spritzed in right onto my hair while it was in the rollers just before going under the dryer and once again after it dry.  My hair held onto the scent surprisingly well.  I recently went to a cookout and had the 'pleasure' of being in the direct line of smoke from the grill, but once I got home I gave my hair a few spritzes of the Heavenly Clean and it got rid of the BBQ scent.

Shine Spray for Fine Hair

Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray, 3.3 oz

I've been a little bit bad with the roller sets this summer.  I really thought I would be able to avoid them much more than I have been, but it seems like every time I turn around there's an event or something that I want to have my hair down and sleek for. **shrugs**

On the plus side, I've found a new product for people with fine hair.  It's a shine spray!  Whenever I get a roller set I always skip the final douse of sheen spray at the end because it always ends up weighing my otherwise bouncy blowout down.  So recently, I got a roller set done early in the AM and I was going out that night.  I wanted to add some shine to my hair but I was a little bit hesitant because I still wanted the super swing and bounce.  I picked up Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray and I was pleasantly surprised.  This is my favorite shine spray by far!  It is super duper light, provides amazing shine, and even smells great!  It's like a shine perfume spray for your hair.  I love it!

Get Great Hair with Biosilk

Written by Liz Q. for The Anti Hair Slave

One of the first things a man notices when a lady is sitting at the bar is her hair. When the light catches, and your hair is shining and soft – that’s when you get him! However, nowadays when all we ladies do is straighten, blow dry, curl or in other words, damage our hair with heat, it’s difficult to keep our hair shiny and healthy. Biosilk Silk Therapy has been one of the best products I’ve tested so far. I have thick, wavy hair and all I do is apply a small dab of the serum on and comb through. My hair becomes so silky and soft, but not overly shiny as to be greasy. I get so many compliments! Just be sure not to apply on the roots as that will definitely give a more unfavorable look! I got my Biosilk hair products from Image Beauty simply because it’s a little cheaper and when I order enough stuff, I can get free shipping. However, I’m sure they’re available at your local brick and mortar cosmetics store!

Also, since my hair is thicker than most and I only use a tiny bit, I’m not sure how this would work on fine hair. Have any of you finer hair ladies tried it?

Creme of Nature Argan Oil

Creme of Nature is just one of those classic hair care companies that you know and love, but what makes CON stand out is that they are changing with the times and adapting to their customers new needs and wants.  A while back Creme of Nature discontinued a shampoo from their line that left a lot of loyal customers really upset and wanting their shampoo back.  I remember reading on one of the hair forums about a few ladies (who will remain nameless) that stalked their local Beauty Supply Stores and drugstores buying up every single bottle of the old formula that they could find.  Anyway, the main problem with the new shampoos was that they had SLS in them, while the old formula did not.  Well, CON was listening and they have release a brand new shampoo and conditioner duo and the shampoo is Sulfate Free!  The Moisture & Shine Shampoo and Intensive Conditioning Treatment.

Keep reading for the full review!
Creme of Nature Moisture & Shine Shampoo Product Description: Gently cleanses hair without harsh, moisture stripping agents - Strengthens hair while optimizing the moisture balance of the hair and scalp - Helps to detangle, soften and boost shine - Infused with Certified Organic Argan Oil from Morocco
AHS - I loved this shampoo, it lathered up like nobodies business and cleansed my hair and scalp amazingly well, without drying it out.  It performed great and I now consider this to be one of my STAPLE shampoo's.

Creme of Nature Intensive Conditioning Treatment Product Description: Intensive Conditioning Treatment is an intensively deep conditioning treatment that strengthens, revitalizes and gives luminous shine. It prevents hair breakage and deeply infuses moisture from the inside out. Ideal for all hair types, including relaxed, natural and color-treated hair, this treatment can be used after every shampoo as a quick conditioner, or every week as a reconstructor.

AHS - I made the mistake of thinking this was an instant conditioner.  I shampooed my hair, then applied this, clipped my hair up, and continued on with my shower.  Once I was finished with the basic shower duties, I rinsed my hair only to be disappointed.  But that's totally my fault, because I didn't leave it on long enough.  This conditioner is basically the 1.75oz packet in bottle form, so it's not an instant conditioner and needs to be left on longer to get the full results.  Even with that being said, this is not my favorite Creme of Nature Deep Treatment, I like it but I don't love it.

Carol's Daughter Monoi Hair Care Collection Review

Finally, I am reviewing the Carol's Daughter Monoi Hair Care Collection.  I say finally because I've had the products in my possession for a while now and I've been trying them over and over to get the results promised.  Carol's Daughter claims that hair will be 13x stronger after one use and there will be 96% less breakage.  After several uses my hair felt slightly stronger and I noticed a few less strands in the comb after I washed, conditioned, and deep conditioned.

My absolute favorite thing about this collection is the scent.  The scent is worthy of a perfume bottle!  It features the luscious, heady scent yet tropical scent of Gardenias and after one sniff you'll be tempted to buy the entire collection.  If there was a best hair care collection scent, this product would win hands down no questions asked!  Yes, it's that good.  But before you go out and snatch the entire collection up based on scent alone, read the rest of the review after the jump.
Now if you take away the scent and rate the entire collection based on performance alone, I'm sorry to say you will be disappointed.  The worst product in the collection is the Monoi Repairing Shampoo, although it is sulfate free it turned my hair into a dry tangled mess, especially my new growth.  The shampoo lathers like it has sulfates which is great because I love to have a shampoo lather up, but this shampoo is so stripping it's not worth the headache.

The Monoi Repairing Conditioner is 10x better than the shampoo, thankfully it was able to restore some of the moisture that was lost during the shampoo stage, but if you are looking for a conditioner that gives tons of slip this is not for you.  Now when I say it gave back the moisture, it gave back some but my hair was still left feeling dry.

On to the Monoi Repairing Mask, the consistency of this product had me thinking YES, this will cure all the dryness!  It's super duper thick and creamy, but once again I was left feeling like it just wasn't making my hair soft and easy to detangle.  After using all the products, my hair was left feeling dry, hard, and I was actually nervous to detangle it because when your hair is wet it's in it's most vulnerable stage.

Thankfully, I did not notice that many strand of hair in my comb.  Usually, I have a few, not too many but after using these products I had even less.  Now, after a totally disappointing wash session using these products, I was almost tempted to go back to my trusty Creme of Nature deep conditioner and rectify this dry hair situation but I just went ahead and styled.  Here is where the review turns around, after styling my hair it looked shiny and felt soft.  I was completely shocked because my hair did a complete 180 on me.  I tried the products a few more times and got the same results, dry scary hair during the wash and condition phases and then gorgeous amazingly scented hair after the styling phase.  I'm at a complete loss and I can't explain it.  My plan is to use up the rest of the collection because who likes to waste?  Then, I might consider repurchasing the conditioner only based on the scent alone, especially since it really lasts in my hair.

Have you tried it?  What are your thoughts?

Cantu Oil Sheen Spray

I shared my most recent hair update with you yesterday and I wanted to share what's happened since wednesday. If you're from the New Jersey area you know the weather has been crazy! It's been raining on and off, and when it's not "raining" there is a fine mist just floating around disrupting my doobie. My hair has gotten relatively frizzy and "swollen" looking, but the worst part was that it just didn't look shiny anymore.

I reached into the hair care closet and pulled out Cantu Oil Sheen Spray and started applying it to my hair.

Product Description: Cantu Shea Butter Oil Sheen spray is made with real pure shea butter and essential oils to replace vital oil in your hair leaving it stronger and healthier with a natural shine. Cantu® Shea Butter Oil Sheen spray is great for natural styles as well as adding that finishing touch to chemically altered, pressed or permed hair. Shea butter and jojoba oil help create a non-tacky formula.

Cantu® Shea Butter Oil Sheen Spray helps…

  • moisturize dry brittle hair with deep penetrating oil and emollients
  • soften, detangle and add shine to hair
  • protect hair against heat and sun styling damage
  • provide extra protection from split ends and breakage
AHS: I was surprised by this product. Thankfully, I applied it a few days after I had gotten my hair done otherwise I would have been very upset. Instead of just giving some shine this stuff was like an oil moisturizer. It made my hair shiny, reduced the frizz, and also weighed my hair down some which was good because it had gotten a bit swollen so it eliminated that. With all that being said, if you have fine hair this product might be a bit to heavy for you. Personally, I'm going to reserve this for when my hair has been air dried. I wish I had before and after photos to really bring home the point, but I don't.

Available at drugstores nationwide.

Arganics Edge Smoothing Gel

I've told you guys time and time again that my nape area is my weak spot, when it comes to healthy hair. You name it and I've gone through it with that area, especially roughness. No matter what I do that area refuses to be smooth, I've tried it all so I have to rely on gel and scarves. One of the best gels I've come across recently is Arganic's Edge Smoothing Gel.

Product Description: OutSmooth This! Edge Smoothing Gel This alcohol free, non-flaking smoothing gel helps to give your edges a silky-soft, relaxed look all while adding extra moisturizing and conditioning agents to your hair and scalp. Use this gel to condition, shine and smooth your edges/hairline. Not only does this gel give you a non-greasy, flexible hold, but it works to condition and protect dry, damaged hair. Great for both relaxed and natural hair styles.

I'm a FAN! Have you tried it?

Silicon Mix Leave In Conditioner

(Silicon Mix Leave-In, $10.00 RoundBrushHair.com)

Leave in conditioner is my hair's best friend, along with deep conditioner of course. I've been trying so many leave-in's looking for the next best thing. So far I've found a few stars and a few duds. The latest leave-in that I've tried is Avanti Silicon Mix Leave-In.

Product Description: Balanced formula rich in Silicones, Keratin Ceramides, and Silk Proteins to condition and provide shine to damaged hair. Works in the internal and external hair structure from roots to ends. Protects against the sun, salted and bleached water and chemical processes.

AHS (An Honest Story): With so many positive reviews on Avanti Silicon Mix Leave-In I couldn't help but try it. The scent is pretty strong and for me it's okay, but every time I would use it my boyfriend would make a comment about it. Saying it smelled "clean" or "fresh", but I'm not quite sure he was being sincere. Anyway, when I first apply it to my hair it moisturizes and leaves it feeling great but then when I wake up in the morning it's got a weird film on it. Every single time I use the Silicon Mix Leave-In I get the weird film, so I've shelved this product.

Ingredients: Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone Copolyol, Keratin, Ceramide, Silk Protein, Glycerin, Cetrimonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Diazolidinyl Urea (and) Lodopropyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance.

WEN Cleansing Conditioner

As you all know, I'm a fan of the co-wash scalp cleansing technique so when the opportunity arose to try the WEN Cleansing conditioner I just had to try it. Now I know a bunch of natural hair divas that love and swear by WEN but as a relaxed head, I'm here to tell you WEN is a Winner! The Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner thoroughly cleansed my scalp and my hair while providing slip and detangling benefits.

Product Details: WEN® Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner is a universal cleanser designed to give all hair types the moisture and hydration they need to stay healthy, shiny and manageable. It is an incredibly rich, yet lightweight formula that thoroughly cleanses and also gives body, volume and a smooth, polished finish.

Boe Crece Pelo Hair Care Collection Review

If you've been following The Anti Hair Slave since the early days, you know that I love Dominican Hair Care products. So naturally, when Round Brush Hair was hosting a March Madness contest where the winner would win a $100.00 gift certificate to the site I was in! I won that contest and purchased a huge Dominican Hair Care product haul. One of the sets I ended up ordering was Crece Pelo Shampoo and Crece Pelo Conditioner because I had previously purchased the Crece Pelo Natural Phyto-therapeutic leave-in at my local BSS (beauty supply store). I purchased the leave-in because it has ceramide in it and ended up really loving it.

Product Descriptions (via RoundBrushHair.com since the BoeCosmetics.com site is in spanish)

Shampoo and Conditioner: This is the first phito (phyto? maybe) therapeutic shampoo that consists of the use of natural plants, for the capillary growth. Its innovative formula contributes 100% active natural extracts necessary for the good state of the hair. This treatment adds the nutrients necessary to return health, beauty, vitality, softness and flexibility to the hair, helping it to grow.

Leave-in: Specifically formulated to condition and protect your hair. The components help to hydrate, condition, protect. Also helps with shine and volume.

AHS thoughts: First, I'll address the shampoo. It smells really fresh and clean, which made my hair and scalp smell really fresh and clean. It thoroughly cleanse both my hair and scalp actually a little too well. My hair felt dry and was really tangled after use. The shampoo does contain SLS, but it's a clear shampoo. I've found that most clear shampoo's really dry out my hair. Thank goodness for the conditioning treatment because it provided instant slip and made my hair soft and easy to detangle after shampooing. The conditioning treatment also has the fresh and clean scent so that was nice. Now on to the star of the bunch, the Leave-In. Like I said before I love this leave-in treatment. It makes my hair feel soft and moisturized, plus it has the very beneficial ceramide as an ingredient. My hair literally drinks this stuff up and loves it! It's a cream leave-in so I don't notice much shine from it but the softness and moisture level is enough for me.

Rusk DeepShine Smooth Keratin Care

Rusk DeepShine Conditioner, $7.00 Folica.com

Rusk Deepshine Smooth Keratin Care Deep Penetrating Treatment is an intensive conditioning treatment recommended for chemically and color treated hair. Formulated with natural keratin, vitamins and nourishing marine botanicals to improve the strength of the hair, leaving it smooth, shiny and in luxurious condition.

AHS Thoughts: The is a great instant conditioner (leave on for 1-3 minutes) to use in the shower. It immediately made my hair feel soft and made detangling a breeze. The scent reminds me of summer, probably due to the hint of coconut. Overall, I liked the conditioner, but I still needed to use a deep conditioning treatment.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua, Eau), Cetyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Glycerin, Chlorella Pyrenoidosa Extract, Chondrus Crispus (Carageenan) Extract, Laminaria Saccharina Extract, Undaria Pinnatifida (Wakame) Extract, Fragrance (Parfum), Propylene Glycol, Quaternium-91, Cetrimonium Methosulfate, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Keratin, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Wheat Amino Acids, Hydrolyzed Oat Protein, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Honey (Mel, Miel), DMDM Hydantoin, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Linalool, Butyphenyl Methylpropional, Hexyl Cinnamal, Citronellol.

Split End Fix?

All my fellow Anti Hair Slaves, know that split ends and heat damage cannot by "fixed." We do not get tricked and caught up in the hype of products like White Sands The Fix, that claim to fix split ends. Instead, we take precautions to prevent split ends and heat damage before they occur. But, even the most hair conscious person cannot avoid every single split end and this is where products such as The Fix by White Sands comes it. The Fix is formulated to help fill in the gaps in the hair's cuticle which will buy you a little time before your trim. Also, anyone with porosity issues with their hair will find this product especially helpful because it does find those holes in your strands and settles right in. Just as a reminder, hair with low porosity has a hard time retaining moisture and accepting chemical treatments like relaxers and colors. Highly porous hair will absorb a lot of moisture but it will also release a lot more leaving hair dry and dry hair leads to damaged hair. Your goal regarding porosity is to fall somewhere in the middle and The Fix can help with that.

(WhiteSands.com The Fix, $19.00)

Just as your favorite concealer hides fine lines and blemishes, The Fix by White Sands transforms into makeup for hair by smoothing out cuticle imperfections for a flawless foundation of healthy, shiny tresses. Split ends vanish, coarse locks are cured and frizz is finally finished!

New for Naturals: Essentious

I’d like to introduce you to Essentious, the all natural hair care system by Tymeka Lawrence. The line was originally created by Tymeka for African American hair featuring products that are free of sulfates, silicones, mineral oil, petroleum and parabens. I had the opportunity of trying the shampoo and conditioner, so I'll share my thoughts.

Essentious Exonerate Sulfate Free Shampoo

Product Description: Moisturizing shampoo made from organically-based emulsifiers with a base of Aloe Vera gel for healing and moisturizing. It has a rich lather and a light, refreshing scent. Sulfate Free.

Thoughts: All sulfate shampoos are not made equal and this shampoo proves the point. Usually when I use a sulfate free shampoo, my hair and scalp feel clean but not stripped and it's more like co-washing than actually shampooing and I LOVE that. Instead of that super awesome feeling, I had a feeling of impending doom when I used this shampoo. My hair felt hard, dry, and I was scared to actually get in there and lather it up really well because my hair felt so vulernable and fragile. Needless to say, I immediately reached for the conditioner to rectify the situation.

Essentious Hydrate Conditioning Moisture Treatment

The Deets: Moisture treatment restores moisture lost during chemical treatments and heat styling. Penetrates the hair to provide moisture within the hair shaft.

Thoughts: Thank goodness for this conditioner because without it we would have had an emergency on our hands. This conditioner with it's fruity yet vanilla cake batter scent softened up my hair and smooth out all the tangles the shampoo had caused. My hair no longer felt rough, dry, and hard. Instead, it was soft and sweet smelling.

Overall, I'd skip the shampoo but the conditioner has been spared, I'd use that again in a heartbeat mostly because of the fabulous scent.
Visit Essentious.com for more deets!

Get Your Gleau On

(Gleau Oil (2oz.) $6.50, GleauHairCare.com)

Gleau (pronounced Glow) is an oil blend recreated by Nadege, the writer behind relaxedhairhealth.blogspot.com. Personally, I usually only use oil to pre-poo or on the very ends of my hair if I feel as though they are especially dry. Gleau is a mix of quality oils such as Moroccan Argan oil, camellia seed oil, sweet almond, jojoba, meadowfoam seed oil, wheat germ, coconut oil and vitamin E. On my hair if feels just a tad bit heavy, but keep in mind that my hair is relaxed and fine, on the nap area which is more coarse it feels just fine. The oil has a pleasant yet light scent and the shine this product adds is out of this world. If you're looking for a new oil to add to your rotation this might be it.

MoroccanOil Hair Care Collection

I treat my strands like they are two seconds from breaking off and falling on the floor, leaving me bald. Of course my hair isn't that damaged, but it is relaxed and I do occasionally use heat tools to style. So when I look for new products to try I usually find myself picking out the products for dry, damaged, sensitized hair. Finally, I've tried MoroccanOil. The first product I tried was MoroccanOil Hydrating Styling Cream as a leave-in treatment on the recommendation of my hair stylist. I actually really liked it so I decided to go ahead and try the rest. The MoroccanOil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Moisture Repair Conditioner left much to be desired but the Hydrating Styling Cream and Original MoroccanOil Treatment oil are the best. Both leave my hair feeling super soft and sleek.

Creme of Nature Argan Oil Treatment Review

Ever since experimenting with henna to strengthen and color my hair, it's been a little bit harder to make it as soft as it once was. Recently, I tried a packet of the Creme of Nature Argan Oil Deep Conditioner and it was great. I left the conditioner on my hair overnight and my morning it was soft and smelling great.

I attribute the awesome conditioning ability to the star ingredient Argan Oil. The women of Morocco and Algerian women have been using Argan oil for years because they know it's amazing on the skin and hair. Since it's full of essential fatty acids and vitamin E, it helps with split ends, dry scalp and skin. Now thanks to Creme of Nature you can try out Argan without digging too deep into your pockets, since the most expensive product will run you about $8.00

Carols Daughter Hair Milk Collection Review

So I let you guys know that Carol's Daugther was expanding the very popular Hair Milk into a complete collection with shampoo, conditioner, and a new verison of Hair Milk, Hair Milk Lite. So I've had the pleasure of testing out the products, so here comes yet another review!

First up, Hair Milk Curl Perfecting Shampoo ($16, Sephora.com)

Claims: A nourishing shampoo for the type of hair that needs it most...curls. Cuts frizz, gently removes dirt, oil and product build-up. Made with essential oils plus Vitamin A to help condition the scalp and keep moisture in. Gives curls what they need for that desired healthy, bouncy look.
Thoughts: This shampoo cleansed my scalp well without drying out my hair. The scent is light and fresh with hints of citrus which is a plus because you know how strong the scents in the Carol's Daughter product range can be. Specifically made for Curly girls this shampoo is SLS/SLES/Sulfate-Free which is a plus for many of you guys!

Hair Milk Curl Perfecting Conditioner ($19, Sephora.com)
Claims: The perfect companion to our nourishing, Curl Perfecting Shampoo. An indulgent, penetrating, moisture treatment that restores while supporting healthy-looking natural curls. Made with essential oils plus Pro-Vitamin B5 and Biotin to help replenish and strengthen hair with the natural nutrients it’s thirsting for, leaving your curls under control…which is where they belong.

Thoughts: I absolutely LOVE this conditioner. The scent is the same as the shampoo, light and fresh with hints of citrus. This conditioner made my hair feel like light fluffy strands of silk as soon as I applied it to my entire head. My hair was soft and especially easy to detangle, which I'm sure all the natural heads out there will appreciate. After washing and conditioning my hair was easy to part and smooth while wet which is sometimes a real task especially considering I'm between 8-10 weeks post relaxer.

Hair Milk Lite The Curl Booster
Claims: A curl’s best friend. A curl boosting, weightless lotion that tames frizz while defining your curls. Adapted from our famous original formula, Hair Milk Lite is made with essential oil of Lemon and Vitamin C for an extra light, moisturizing hold.

Thoughts: After shampooing and conditioner with the new Hair Milk Collection I decided it would only be right to moisturize my ends with the new Hair Milk Lite to round out the styling process. I truly wish I would have never done that and just stuck with my usual 'juice' because my hair went from having that light, fresh citrus scent to smelling like old powder. I can't stand the scent of the new Hair Milk Lite, it reminds of expired powder and to make matters worse the scent lingers. Although, the scent of the Hair Milk Lite is definitely lighter than the original it's still not pleasant. If you can get past the smell, the Hair Milk Lite is good moisturizer for natural hair as it was still a bit too heavy for my relaxed hair.
